Cable modemsearch for term
A modem that uses cable television's coaxial cables to transmit data at faster speeds than modems using telephone lines.
CAIsearch for term
The use of a computer as a medium of instruction for tutorial, drill and practice, simulation, or games. CAIi is used for both initial and remedial training, and typically does not require that a computer be connected to a network or provide links to learning resources outside of the course. Capacity on Demandsearch for term
Processing power that is available as needed in a timely manner without disrupting other business priorities. Capacity on demand frequently involves additional capacity installed but not available for use until needed.
CBTsearch for term
An umbrella term for the use of computers in both instruction and management of the teaching and learning process. CAIi (computer-assisted instruction) and CMIi (computer-managed instruction) are included under the heading of CBTi. Some people use the terms CBT and CAI interchangeably.
CD-ROMsearch for term
A computer storage medium similar to the audio CD that can hold more than 600 megabytes of read-only digital information.
CFPNsearch for term
The APECi Cultural Focal Point Networki (CFPNi) seeks to promote cultural exchanges between APEC economies thereby helping to foster mutual understanding, to enhance APEC's visibility and to advance APEC's vision of an Asia-Pacific Community.
Chat roomsearch for term
A virtual meeting space on the Interneti, an intranet, or other network, used for real-time text discussions. Unlike one-to-one instant messenger applications, chat rooms enable conversations among multiple people at once.

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. A multilateral environmental agreement.
Clearing Housesearch for term
A website that provides fast and direct access to information about a general subject area and links to a selection of related websites.
Cluster Interconnectsearch for term
A very high-speed connection allowing nodes in a cluster to communicate.
Clusteringsearch for term
Connecting two or more computers together in such a way that they appear to be a single computing resource. Clusteringi is used for parallel processing, load balancing, and fault tolerance. Clustering is a popular strategy for implementing grid computing, since it is relatively easy to add new CPUs simply by adding a new server or blade to the overall cluster. Clusters are typically transparent to users and applications.
CMIsearch for term
The use of computer technology to oversee the learning process, including testing and record keeping.
CoDsearch for term
Delivery of an offering, packaged in a media format, anywhere, anytime via a network. Variants include audio on demand (AoD) and video on demand (VoDi).
Codecsearch for term
Device used to convert analog signals to digital signals for transmission, and to reconvert signals upon reception at the remote site, while allowing for the signal to be compressed for less expensive transmission.
Collaboration technologysearch for term
Software, platforms, or services that enable people at different locations to communicate and work with each other in a secure, self-contained environment. May include capabilities for document management, application sharing, presentation development and delivery, whiteboarding, chat, and more.
Cookiesearch for term
Information stored on a user's computer after he or she visits a Websitei. The cookie tracks data about that user but can be disabled in the browser.
CPUsearch for term
The part of the computer that contains the microprocessor, power supply, hard drive, and disk drives.
CRMsearch for term
Methodologies, software, and Interneti capabilities that help a company identify and categorize customers and manage relationships with them.
CTIsearch for term
The Committee on Trade and Investment (CTIi) was established in 1993 as a result of a Declaration on a Trade and Investment Framework to increase economic activity and facilitate the flow of goods and services among member economies. This committee coordinates APECi's work on the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment.
CTTFsearch for term
The Counter Terrorism Task Force (CTTFi) was set up by Senior Officials in February 2003. It assists economies to identify and assess counter-terrorism needs, co-ordinates capacity building and technical assistance programs, cooperates with international and regional organisations and facilitates cooperation between APECi fora on counter-terrorism issues.
