- SANsearch for term
- A high-speed sub-network of shared storage devices. In large enterprises, a SANi connects multiple servers to a centralized pool of disk storage. Compared to managing hundreds of servers, each with their own disks, SANs reduce system administration overhead. By treating all the company's storage as a single resource, disk maintenance and routine backups are easier to schedule and control. In some SANs, the disks themselves can copy data to other disks for backup without any processing overhead at the host computers.
- SARSsearch for term
- Currently, there is no known SARSi transmission anywhere in the world. The most recent human cases of SARS-CoV infection were reported in China in April 2004 in an outbreak resulting from laboratory-acquired infections (see Laboratory Biosafety for more details). CDC and its partners, including the World Health Organization, continue to monitor the SARS situation globally. - SCCPsearch for term
- The Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures (SCCPi) is a sub-committee of the Committee of Trade and Investment. Originally, called the Customs Procedures Group of Customs Experts, SCCP was renamed in 1995. Its objective is to facilitate trade in the Asia-Pacific region by simplifying and harmonizing customs procedures.

- A set of specifications that, when applied to course content, produces small, reusable learning objects. A result of the Department of Defense's Advance Distributed Learning (ADLi) initiative, SCORMi-compliant courseware elements can be easily merged with other compliant elements to produce a highly modular repository of training materials.

- A picture of a computer display that shows the display at a given point in time. Also called a screen capture. Annotated screenshots are often used in software manuals and training programs
- Scriptsearch for term
- A program or set of instructions not carried out by the computer processor but by another program. Code is interpreted at run time rather than being stored in executable format.

- The Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCCPi), established in 1994, is a sub-committee of the Committee on Trade and Investment. Its main aim is to achieve more harmonised standards and conformance which will improve the efficiency of production and facilitate the conduct of international trade.

- The Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group's (SMEWGi) was first set up as an Ad Hoc Policy Level Group on SMEsi (PLGSME) in February 1995. The main objective is to assist the Small and Medium Enterprises in the region to improve their competitiveness and to facilitate a more open trade and investment environment encourage the development of the Small and Medium Enterprises in the region. In 2000, this group was renamed the Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group.

- A computer architecture that utilizes multiple CPUs to complete individual processes simultaneously. Any idle processor can be assigned any task, and additional CPUs can be added to improve performance and handle increased loads.

- Principles and practices for sharing, reusing, and orchestrating business logic represented as services or components. SOAi is the most optimized and cost-effective way to deliver applications deployed on grid-based infrastructures.

- The Secure Trade in the APECi Region (STAR) initiative aims to secure and enhance the flow of goods and people through measures to protect cargo, ships, international aviation and people in transit.

- Program instructions written by a software developer and later translated (usually by a compiler) into machine language that a computer can understand.
- Spamsearch for term
- Junk email that is sent, unsolicted and in bulk, to advertise products or services or publicize a message. The term may have originated from a Monty Python song. (verb) To send unsolicited bulk email to advertise products or services or publicize a message.

- Language for accessing information in a database and updating entries.
- SSN CBNsearch for term
- To promote effective capacity building within the APECi region in the area of social safety nets, the APEC Social Safety Net Capacity Building Networki (APEC SSN CBNi) was established. - Stakeholdersearch for term
- A person with a vested interest in the successful completion of a project. Stakeholders in e-learning often include the developer, the facilitator, the learners, the learners' managers, customers, and so forth.
- Streaming mediasearch for term
- Audio or video files played as they are being downloaded over the Interneti instead of users having to wait for the entire file to download first. Requires a media player program.
- Style sheetssearch for term
- In traditional print publishing and on the Web, style sheets specify how a document should appear, standardizing such elements as fonts, page layout and line spacing, repeated content, and so forth. Web style sheets help ensure consistency across Webpages, but HTMLi coding can also override the sheets in designated sections of the pages. Also see CSS.
- Synchronous learningsearch for term
- A real-time, instructor-led online learning event in which all participants are logged on at the same time and communicate directly with each other. In this virtual classroom setting, the instructor maintains control of the class, with the ability to 'call on' participants. In most platforms, students and teachers can use a whiteboard to see work in progress and share knowledge. Interaction may also occur via audio- or videoconferencing, Interneti telephony, or two-way live broadcasts.
