ADOC Opens eCommerce Center in Santiago, Chile

The APECi Digital Opportunity Center (ADOCi) project proudly opened its first e-Commerce digital centers in Santiago on March 29th, 2007. The ADOC e-Commerce center aims to provide information and communications technology (ICT) related training for small and medium size businesses (SMEsi) to empower them to take full advantage of the business opportunities afforded by the Interneti. The center aims to be a state-of-the-art training facility, equipped with 12 of the latest PC's and an array of supporting peripherals such as a projector, a fax machine, a scanner, and printer. The center will also be fully connected to the Internet providing both cable and wireless access. The center will aim to train more than 300 persons in its first year of operation.

The e-Commerce center is the latest in a number of digital opportunity centers opened through the ADOC project. ADOC opened its first large digital opportunity training center and its project office in 2005 with the generous support of its local partner, SERCOTEC. Since then, it has opened four more centers, including the latest e-Commerce, partnering with local organizations such as ACTI & SOFOFA. The e-Commerce center is the fruit of a cooperative effort between Chile's Servicio de Cooperación Técnica - SERCOTEC and the ADOC Secretariat office in Chinese Taipei.
