Press Release: The e-Care Center and Tele-Center in Viet Nam

The ADOCi Secretariat had officially opened the e-Care Center and Tele-Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam on May 19, 2006. The e-Care Center and Tele-Center are to serve the people of Viet Nam. Chinese Taipei provides the software, hardware, low-cost courses, services, and local teachers, so as to allow the people to utilize digital technology and learn IT knowledge. The people can also enhance their competitiveness, ability to find jobs and livelihood. The two Centers can strengthen the usage of local resources and enable SMEsi to promote e-commerce.


The e-Care Center will train around 100 people whereas the Tele-Center will train about 240 people as their objective, so as to implement ADOC Program's spirit.


The e-Care Center and Tele-Center are parts of ADOC program that the APECi Economic Leaders had endorsed in 2003. ADOC program is Chinese Taipei's response to APEC's call to promote knowledge economy and 2000 Brunei Goal (the realization of access to Interneti for all people by 2010). Currently, there are 19 projects being implemented. During 2004-2005, Chinese Taipei had completed the ADOC Websitei, created IT School, hold IT Leaders' Training Camp. ADOC Offices and Digital Opportunity Centers have been established in 6 partner member economies (PMEs) consisting of Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Viet Nam. It has assisted with developing IT, so as to lower the digital divide among APEC members.


The ADOC Secretariat has stated that Chinese Taipei will provide IT assistance and seek cooperation from its companies to bridge digital divide and bring digital opportunity. The creation of the e-Care Center and Tele-Center will enable the people of Viet Nam to gain knowledge about digitalization and its importance for internationalization, so as to attain sustainable development.
