Who works at the APEC Secretariat?

Based in Singapore, the APEC Secretariatⁱ is staffed by 22 seconded staff from Member Economies and an additional 27 staff employed directly by the Secretariat to fulfill specialist and support functions.

The senior officers at the APECⁱ Secretariat are the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director. These two positions are filled by a diplomatic representative of the current APEC host economy and a representative of the economy that will host APEC in the following year.

The Deputy Executive Director, Ambassador Choi Seok Young, is from Korea, the host economy of the 2005 APEC year.

The APEC Secretariat is housed in a recently completed building funded by the Government of Singapore that is located on the grounds of the National University of Singapore.
