She gave similar handling to other students, including sanction due to Taufik violated school regulation without defending him. A Tunnel to be Built at Kalibata Station

Public’s high interest toward railway transportation makes Jakarta Provincial Government plans to revitalized Kalibata Station, South Jakarta, as transit oriented development (TOD)-based station. Later on, the station will be developed into longer and larger with an underground tunnel built as pedestrian place that connects the station with Kalibata low-cost subsidized apartment (rusunami). The revitalization is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, so that by the end of 2013 citizens can already enjoy the station’s comfort and safety.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said the Kalibata Station condition needs enlargement and capacity expansion, considering it is surrounded with four rusunamis. This condition is concerned cannot accommodate many residents. The impact is that residents who use private vehicle will cause traffic congestion getting worse.
“We will expand Kalibata Station capacities. We have presented it comprehensively in front of Railway General Directorate, Transportation Ministry. It is mutually agreed the station function and condition will be developed bigger and wider,” he stated at the City Hall, Thursday (8/11).
He admitted that plan is not an ideal solution, because an ideal solution means the train rails in Kalibata Station elevated similar to the rails in Manggarai and Kota Station. However, the implementation needs massive budget about Rp 300 billion per kilometer which impossible to be realized whether using local budget (APBD) fund or state budget (APBN).
Therefore, Jakarta Provincial Government and Railway General Directorate agree to get back on realistic and pragmatic solutions by making the station longer and wider. It is planned platforms at the station will be extended and widened toward south. This is to improve train services because around the station there are Kalibata Rusunami with capacity over 12 thousand families, residences across the station with 2-3 thousand families capacity, and thousands more families at Pengadegan.
“With so many people there, it is impossible to serve them with short platform. We want train to be used optimally as a public transport alternative so that they do not have to use private vehicle. That is why we make the station more comfortable by fixing its whole access,” expressed Fauzi.
Through Kalibata Station revitalization, Kalibata access road which passing through the rails will be closed, so that vehicles will be diverted to Kalibata flyover. A loop line will also be built behind Kalibata Mall and Stekpi Campus which can be connected with the flyover. Currently, the planning is approaching final because there are still improvements need to be done, such as access for disabled person and, which must be adjusted with the city’s needs in the future. This revitalization will not change signal system in Kalibata Station.
According to him, budget for this work has not been set and still on process of rough calculation. The planning starts this year with initial step completing administration such as developer Permit on Land Use (SIPPT). Because, initially in the SIPPT the station will be moved, while now it is revitalized. “We want to use this thing as learning process to develop TOD in other stations,” he added.
Udar Pristono as Head of Jakarta Transportation Department said the permit with PT. KAI for revitalization is done. However, this extension has its own consequence, that is the lower road which intersect with railroad tracks will be closed.
“Actually, the road is useless because there has been flyover. So, we will simplify the traffic lanes and help to handle traffic flows only. The administration completed this year. The physical construction will be started in 2012 and hopefully a year after it could be operated,” he continued.
