The ADOC Project has been obtained by the APEC official website!!
As you may know, the mission of the ADOC Project is to transform digital divides into digital opportunities. Since it was launched in 2004, the ADOC Project has worked to help disadvantaged groups or areas to overcome limitations due to age, gender, physical, social or educational status. Chinese Taipei would like to express its gratitude to the 10 partner member economies of this project, namely Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Based on the true stories, the short film talked about those who used to be helpless, tried to survive in a hard environment and were in the disadvantaged groups get transformed because of the ADOC Project. There are a lot of people from government sectors, private sectors, non-government organizations, and non-profit organization. They have been involved in the ADOC Project actively, unconditionally, and devotedly. They are the true digital missionaries to help bridge the digital divide and create digital opportunities.
“We are always there for you” is the key element that we would like to share with you. For those who lack of resources to learn computers, the ADOC Project provides the tools and training materials to them. For those who are in the rural areas and far away from the places that people can easily get trained in information and communication technology, the mobile digital opportunity centers bring laptops to them and help them connect to the Internet to reach the world. In many cases, the ADOC centers also serve as community centers that provide educational assistance to children support development of local industries, and promote community tourism with its IT facilities. This project has proved itself a key enabler of equitable, inclusive and sustainable growth in the region. It also facilitates people-to-people connectivity as many young students volunteer their service in foreign ADOC centers.
We hope all the participants in the 10 partner member economies have proud feelings in the ADOC Project. May Chinese Taipei, the one who “does not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” in the ADOC Project can be seen.
