The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), in coordination with Telefonica del Peru, made from 16th to 17^th of September the First International Meeting "ICT and Tourism", to be carried out within the framework of project activities Assigned to Cooperation "ICT and Social Inclusion", which was approved at the XVIII Iberoamerican Summit of Heads of State, held in October last year in San Salvador.

In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Martin Perez reported that this event is aimed at converting the best international practices in applying information technology and communication in tourism, due to its strategic linkage to sustainable development and the social inclusion.

Likewise, he mentioned that this meeting will be completely free and will bring together experts from Latin America and other regions as well as United Nations specialized agencies and multilateral organizations will be exchanged between those experiences, knowledge and policies as a basis for transfer technologies related to the implementation of ICT in tourism.

"These experiences allow us to be more competitive in the future, the presence of these international experts will be crucial, Peru has an impressive tourist vocation. The goal we have set is to grow to 10% above the global average in coming years and will not be able to do so if they do not incorporate technology. I'm sure this game will be really useful for tourism, "he said.

He also expressed his satisfaction with the development of this meeting in our capital, it will contribute to promoting the national and international tourism from successful experiences in using information technologies and communication within the industry value chain.

"Our goal is to develop the necessary tools for sustainable development. The modern and innovative use of ICT in promoting our destinations is strategic to the advancement of the most symbolic tourist products of Peru, and the development of new destinations of enormous potential and we need to raise awareness, "he said.
